Hi there! I'm Deanna Sparrow - a joyful, community-oriented theatre artist based in the greater Pittsburgh area. Fun facts:

• I'm a wife & mom and those are my favorite gigs
• Act 2 aspirations: write a spec script for a quirky sitcom + spend a summer performing with a Shakespeare Rep company in a new-to-us town
• My training & first love is acting (EMC/MFA), but I'm also an emerging playwright and member of Dramatists Guild with several produced plays
• I'm a passionate theatre educator with 15+ years experience, most recently including: 
  • Director: Slippery Rock High School (Disney's Newsies, 2024: winner of 6 Henry Mancini awards including Best Musical + Best Direction)
  • Shakespeare coach: Slippery Rock Area School District (2024: upper division scene + monologue winners, PPT Shakespeare Contest)
  • K-12 theatre enrichment + creative dramatics: hobnob theatre + Slippery Rock Area School District
  • Higher education (2009-2021): courses taught: acting fundamentals, intro to theatre, theatre history & dramatic literature, stage management, teaching theatre, intro to theatre management, studies in audience development
