Hey hey... I'm Deanna Sparrow, a theatre artist based in the greater Pittsburgh area. Facts:

• I've focused Act 1 on: raising my kid; writing/performing in quality local theatre; arts ed
• Act 2 aspirations: pen book + lyrics for a full-length high school musical (with my writing partner/composer, Ken Smith); write a spec script for a sitcom; spend a summer performing with a Shakespeare Rep company; face plant into the unknown
• My training & first love is acting (EMC/MFA), but I'm also an emerging playwright and member of Dramatists Guild with several produced plays
• I'm a passionate theatre educator with 15+ years experience, most recently including: 
  • Director/Choreographer: Slippery Rock High School (Shrek: The Musical, 2025: winner of 2 Henry Mancini awards including Best Ensemble + Best Execution of Choreography; Disney's Newsies, 2024: winner of 6 Henry Mancini awards including Best Musical)
  • Shakespeare coach: Slippery Rock Area School District (recently coached: Pittsburgh Public Theater Shakespeare Contest's 2025 upper division monologue winner + 2024 upper division scene and monologue winners)
  • K-12+ theatre enrichment workshops: myriad projects led in both Butler County, PA and Iowa City, IA
  • Higher education (2009-2021): courses taught: acting fundamentals, intro to theatre, theatre history & dramatic literature, stage management, teaching theatre, intro to theatre management, studies in audience development
